Learn Your Lawn

A healthier lawn starts with understanding what’s growing in it. Get to know your grass, the weeds and pests that can cause problems, and the basics of proper lawn care so you can better understand what your lawn needs — and why we treat it the way we do.

Knowing what's growing in your yard is the first step to giving your lawn what it needs to grow healthy and strong.

Bermuda

Centipede

St. Augustine

Zoysia

Any plant growing where it doesn’t belong can be a weed, and aggressive weeds won’t hesitate to compete with your grass for space, water and nutrients.

Buttonweed

Dollarweed

Spotted Surge

Sedges

Some pests don’t just bother you — they can damage your lawn from above and below the soil, leaving behind brown patches, thinning grass and weakened roots.

Mole Cricket

Chinch Bugs

Army Worms

Fire Ants

Recommended Care

The best time to water your lawn is around sunrise, when it can soak in before the heat of the day. Water deeply and less often rather than a little every day — overwatering can encourage fungal problems, weaken your lawn, and of course, drive up your water bill.
